Squirg And The Ballad

Canto XI (Lines 1008-1019). Squirg and beer figure very prominently in Canto XI, where Kulakoonstru goes back to Arqnasquirg to have a grand celebration of his gaining new power and skills.

This great celebration would end
With the ultimate festival.
Squirg for all who thus did attend.
Squirg that was most commendable!
It came from the misty lowlands.
It came from in the green valleys.
It came from the cold, cold highlands.
From the finest malted barleys.
All was exquisite perfection!
All was the finest that e'er been.
The best for the celebration!
The squirg was the rarest e'er seen!

Subsequent verses describe single malt Squirgs from specific distilleries, including Pholis, Biroray, Old Flen, Tranade, Ugurulin. All concluding with that most wonderful and legendary of Squirgs: “Casks of Maclenuru”.

It is unclear how Kulakoonstru managed to get so much Maclenuru, but it is surely a spectacular achievement. Ukunhururarklo posits that it may be his greatest achievement.
