The ballad consists of 19 cantos, some are complete, some are incomplete and some are totally missing and are inferred to have existed based on internal indications or some external sources. There is an inter-canto chorus, which describes some of Kulakoonstru’s various titles (all of which are shown to be gained within the extant ballad text).

Ukunhururarklo has provided extensive footnotes explaining many of the more obscure references within the text of the ballad itself. He has also provided an informative preface and appendix, along with an exhaustive bibliography.

Dr. Clinton, the translator, has added a short note at the beginning, as well as creating an index for this publication.

There are two illustrations included in the book, one is Kulakoonstru’s heraldic crest that was found on the original chest containing the scrolls. This is shown on the main page of this site.

The other is a facsimile of one of the pages showing the original text, in ancient Yanin, of the inter-canto chorus. This is shown here, along with the translation.

The first edition, published soon after the discovery of the scrolls, while complete at the time, was nonetheless missing some key elements, these were obscured by stains of squirg or Yanin beer. After much study and effort, Ukunhururarklo was able to decipher these passages and added greatly to the historical record of Kulakoonstru.

This second edition encompasses all the most current research in to both the life of Kulakoonstru and the creation of the ballad. It also has a an updated appendix and bibliography, as well as line numbers for the ballad itself, in order to facilitate direct references to the poem.
